Online run and triathlon coaching · Australia wide

Every session, built from your own data.

Structured plans written for you, uploaded to intervals.icu, synced to your watch and reviewed every week against what you actually ran.

Who it's for

One coach. Your data. Your plan.

Every plan starts from your training history, not a template. You get sessions written for your goal, your current fitness and the days you can train.

Coming back

  • Load rises only when the data says so
  • Clear step back up to full training

Inside a plan

Thursday threshold 5 × 4 min

55 minutes, about 11 km. This is how a session lands on your intervals.icu calendar and your watch. The targets are percentages of your own threshold, so the same session fits every athlete.

How it works

From application to weekly recap

  1. Apply

Fill in the short form below. I reply within 48 hours.

  2. Intake

A questionnaire and a 30 minute call: ability, availability, facilities, strengths and weaknesses, goal races and anything else that limits your week.

  3. Connect intervals.icu

Create a free account, link Garmin or Strava and add me as your coach. Your training history comes across automatically.

  4. History analysis

I set real HR and pace zones, work out a safe ramp rate and flag bad sensor data before anything is planned.

  5. Train

Sessions land on your intervals.icu calendar one to two weeks ahead and sync to your watch.

  6. Weekly recap

Plan against actual, every week. The next block is built from what really happened.

How I coach

Six rules every plan follows

My day job is electrical engineering, and I coach the same way: measure first, build in margin, check the result against the plan.

Ramp rate beats volume

Monthly increases of around 10 to 20%. Consistency wins over big weeks.

Real zones, not formulas

Max HR and thresholds come from repeated hard efforts, not 220 minus your age.

Check the data first

Wrist HR spikes and treadmill pace errors are excluded before they skew your zones.

Plan for the dips

Lighter blocks go around the low periods you already know about, like December.

Ask, don’t assume

A drop in volume gets a conversation before it gets a plan change.

Coming back is its own block

After two to three weeks or more off, you start below your old baseline and test every one to two weeks.

Race days

Athletes

What athletes say

“I've been following the CoachED program for the past few months and it is without a doubt the best personally tailored training program I've used. Edward is professional, attentive and knowledgeable when writing my program. I have gone from not being able to complete a 1km swim in the pool, to finishing an Olympic distance triathlon with his help.”

LaurenTriathlete

“I reached out to Edward through a mutual friend for some tips for a race I had initially entered. Over time he's progressively become more involved, helping me towards preparing for my first marathon. I appreciate the time and effort he puts into programs as well as answering my sometimes over-the-top questions.”

EmilyRunner

“I previously used the NikeRun App to schedule my run workouts however I found it to be generic and didn't take into account my working/family life. I've since started with CoachED and couldn't be happier. The sessions are simple and tailored for me and my busy schedule.”

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need to pay for intervals.icu?

No. intervals.icu is free. There is an optional supporter subscription, but you don’t need it.

What watch do I need?

Any GPS watch with heart rate that syncs to intervals.icu. Garmin is the smoothest, because structured workouts push straight to the watch.

Where are you based?

Sydney. Coaching is online, so you can be anywhere in Australia.

Who is it for?

Runners from 10 km to marathon, triathletes from sprint to 70.3, people returning from a break, and anyone who wants real structure in their training.

Can I start while injured?

Yes, once a physio or doctor has cleared you. You start with a return block and build from there.

Eddie Vining

I raced track for over ten years, some of it against the best in the world. After I hung up the spikes I found triathlon, and later raced it professionally while working 50+ hour weeks as an engineer.

That is the athlete I coach best: someone with a real job and real commitments who still wants to race well. There is enough time in your week to train properly and live a balanced life.
